Why or how did you pick your wedding venue? Was there something in particular about it that made you say, "This is the place!"
The Middleburg Barn had the rustic look I love, but still clean and accessible enough that it would be enjoyable to all people. I love the high ceiling, making it spacious for the big group I am expecting- and I like that it is able to accommodate so many guests even without a tent. I like that the site is close enough to DC where I have been living, but far enough to get some fresh air away from bad traffic and a lot of loud noise. It's also great that it has several side rooms and the cottage for our day-long activities.
What is some advice you have for other couples who are in the midst of wedding planning or are just beginning their wedding planning process?
Definitely do Minted (or somewhere with similar service) for save-dates and wedding invites, since they not only put your return address on there for you, but they also do guest addressing. I loved Zola for my registry (and therefore did my wedding website through them) since I was able to add items from all over the internet- so many different online stores; however, I did hear that the buyer experience wasn't super enjoyable since for non-Zola items they had to go back and confirm that they indeed bought. I'm happy that I'm doing makeup versus hair and planning versus flowers from their own separate vendors because I know they are really strong in what they do! I saw some vendors that combine. I am really happy with all my vendors and would recommend.
What are you most looking forward to about being married?
Living with Will in the Pacific Northwest and getting to see him all the time, not being so bicoastal!
Rachel and Will had a beautiful fall wedding in October 2018 at the Middleburg Barn in Middleburg, VA.
